Professional Makeup Brushes - Natural Vs Synthetic Fibers and How to Choose the Best Cosmetic Brush

!±8± Professional Makeup Brushes - Natural Vs Synthetic Fibers and How to Choose the Best Cosmetic Brush

If you are looking to purchase some professional makeup brushes, you may be wonder which fiber is best. The answer to this question depends on both your personal preference and the intended use for the brush. The following is a description of the various types of hair used to create makeup brush sets. Understanding the various type of bristles can be helpful when trying to choose which brush will be right for you.

Goat Hair:

Goat hair is the most common fiber used for makeup brushes. The bristles are not quite as soft as squirrel and some of the other natural fibers, but they are good at holding large amounts of powder. Goat hair is a good choice for blush, bronzer and face powder brushes because you'll get an even application and the makeup won't get trapped in the brush.

Sable Hair:

Sable hair is soft and fine and makeup brushes made of this hair typically have pointy tips. The pointy shape and softness of sable hair makes it an ideal choice for eyeshadow and eyeliners. As with most natural fibers, the powder is easily transferred to your skin and doesn't get left behind on the makeup brush.

Pony Hair:

Pony hair is strong and durable. It tends to have a cylindrical shape where there is a consistent thickness from root to tip. The tips tend to be less pointy than brushes made from squirrel hair. Pony hair is a versatile fiber and is good for powder, blush and eyeshadow makeup brushes.

Camel Hair:

Camel hair is a generic term used to described makeup brushes that are made with a mix of squirrel, goat or pony hair.

Squirrel Hair:

Squirrel hair is the softest natural hair type. This softness typically makes squirrel hair brushes the most luxurious and also the most expensive brushes. Similar to sable hair, the brushes are wide in the middle and have a pointed tip, which makes them ideal as blending brushes and for use on eye creases.

Squirrel Mix/Squirrel Blend:

Makeup brushes made with a mix of squirrel and other natural fibers are a more affordable alternative to pure squirrel brushes.

Synthetic:

Synthetic makeup brushes are made of nylon, which is less absorbent than natural hair fibers. Because they are less absorbent, synthetic brushes are typically used for applying liquid-based products. Synthetic brushes typically do not last as long as natural fiber brushes.

Duo Fibre: Natural/Synthetic Mix

A mix of natural and synthetic fibers is typically referred to as duo fiber brushes. This mix of fibers increases the durability, stiffness and liquid handling ability of the makeup brush. One common type of duo fiber brush is a stippling brush, which is very popular with people who want an airbrushed quality application of their liquid foundation.

Make-Up Kits

!±8± Make-Up Kits

Make up kits are compact kits containing the latest and best make up products and accessories at affordable prices. They come in beautiful colors and shapes and look elegant on your dressing table. Most high quality make up products help you to maintain a fresh look throughout the day. Make up products are great for concealing birthmarks, varicose and spider veins, acne, age spots, freckles, dark eye circles, tattoos, bruises etc. In most make up kits, the make up brushes are color coded to the make up in the face disk. This helps you always to know which brush goes with which product. Various special offers are provided by most companies.

Make up kits contain eye shadows, blushers, brush sets, and two-way cake and lip gloss sets. Most of the kits are available with mirrors.

Make up kits are available for different categories of people. Thus you have student make up kits with color set powder, sponge applicators, stipple sponge, powder puff, flat brush, eyebrow pencil, and instructions. Dancers' make up kits are meant exclusively for dancers. These contain professional quality makeup, applicators along with an illustrated instruction booklet created by makeup artists. Then there are the theatrical make up kits meant for stage professionals. These contain modeling putty/wax, application guides, hair white, latex, spirit gum, crepe hair, stage blood, powder puff and powder brush. Certain make up kits for special purposes such as clown kits, cat kits, skull kits, old age kits, severe trauma kits, vampire make up kits, werewolf kits and witch kits are also available. Partyware make up kits form another category which contain party hats, straps, mats and decorative items which help you personalize your own party.

If your profession demands frequent travel, you can choose to buy portable plastic make up kits with all necessary make up items. These come in attractive colors and compact shapes pleasing to the eye.

Makeup Tips to Cover Your Tattoo!

!±8± Makeup Tips to Cover Your Tattoo!

Your big day or special event has arrived and for a variety of reasons, you have decided that you want to cover your tattoo. You have seen the tattoo cover-up kits sold online, but do they really work? What about airbrush makeup? What is the best method to cover a tattoo?

Questions to keep in mind when selecting the best method to cover your tattoo:

If someone hugs you, will they come in contact with the covered area? Will your clothing come in contact with the covered area?

Tattoo Lightener

If you have about seven to ten months and want to lighten your tattoo for the best cover-up, considering using a product like Tattoo Off. Tattoo Off is designed to lighten your tattoo by penetrating your skin and breaking down the ink over time.

Camouflage Cosmetics & Tattoo Cover-up Kits

There are a variety of corrective and camouflage cosmetics on the market (e.g. Tattoo Camo, Smart Cover, Dermablend, Cinema Secrets, Ben Nye to name a few) that are designed to be smudge-resistant, water-proof, and non-greasy. These types of camouflage cosmetics are designed to "cover", "conceal", and are often used to create special effects. Camouflage or corrective cosmetics usually have a creamy texture and may require the use of a setting powder depending upon the brand.

OK, let's be frank. It's make-up. Yes, there are some brands that I like better than others ( e.g. Tattoo Camo and Cinema Secrets), but bottom line, a cream is being used to cover an area on your skin. Depending upon the oiliness of your skin, perspiration, and humidity, the covered area may smudge or smear. Therefore, if your dress or someone will come in contact with the covered area, I strongly suggest airbrush make-up vs. the use of a camouflage cosmetic to cover your tattoo. If not, Tattoo Camo Tattoo Cover-up Kit or Cinema Secrets Ultimate Foundations are your best bet to ensure optimal coverage.

Color Matching

One of the biggest challenges I hear when selecting cosmetics to cover a tattoo is "how do you find the right color?" I suggest choosing two to three different shades that most closely match your skin tone (light, medium, dark). Use a blend of these shades to create your perfect match. Most of us have unevenness in our skin tone, so you will need a combination of these shades to create a tone that appears realistic. Cinema Secrets Ultimate Foundations probably offers the broadest range of shades, particularly for people who have a lot of yellow or olive in their skin tone.

Are cover-up creams easy to use?

The majority of cream camouflage products offer online video tutorials that will show you how to apply their product. Regardless of the product you choose, always remember to:

wax or shave the area to be covered; unless the product instructions tell you to, do not apply a moisturizer prior to make-up application; choose two to three shades that most closely match your skin tone (light, medium, dark); this will enable you to blend the shades to better match your skin tone; use a cosmetic wedge to apply the make-up in thin layers; use a stippling motion, not a stoking motion.

Application will take some practice so be sure to order your products months prior to your wedding; allow plenty of time to practice the technique.

Advantages of Airbrush Make-up to Cover a Tattoo

Airbrush foundations are traditionally high in coverage, but thin in texture. Because the makeup is dispensed in micro-fine layers with an airbrush versus a make-up brush or cosmetic sponge, the results appear more natural and sheer.

Typically, to achieve optimal tattoo coverage, an alcohol-based or silicone based airbrush make-up is used. My personal favorite airbrush make-up for covering tattoos is Temptu Pro Dura. Dura is widely used for body art, prosthetics, tattoo coloring, and special effects. Temptu Pro Dura combined with the use of their new pro palettes, and matte sealer is a winning combination! These products will ensure that your tattoo area is covered and can withstand hugging and touching! Airbrush make-up is typically best applied by a skilled make-up artist.
